Ivor was surrendered to Rescue Siamese along with Victoria and Floyd, after being rescued from a hoarder situation. Ivor has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Much like the human version of the virus (HIV), a diagnosis of FIV means that Ivor’s immune system may not be as strong at fighting off certain infections or diseases late on in life. Ivor’s immune system is currently still intact. Otherwise, FIV cats live out fairly normal lives. Importantly, FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or other animals–it is only transmissible to other cats by direct contact with blood (e.g. bites & scratches).
Ivor is a bit shy, but he is a very sweet boy. He loves to have his head scratched, but needs a gentle approach. Ivor gets along well with other cats, as long as they are not “alpha” personalities. Ivor’s ideal home would be a quiet, mature home (no children <10 years of age), where he would gain some confidence.
